Basic work was performed on survey of molluscan species for their taxonomic identification and nomenclature; ecological characterization of the coast; biodiversity of the molluscs; Zonations of the sea, associate fauna of molluscs, environmental parameters and mangrove associated molluscs under the national research project entitled “All India Coordinated project of Taxonomy Capacity Building on Mollusca) funded by Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt. of India during, year 2001-2007”- ´AICOPTAX- Mollusca, as an junior research fellow (JRF) and senior research fellow (SRF). Also work was done under the project entitled ´Dissemination of Potential fishing zone (PFZ) information to the fisher folk of Ratnagiri and collecting feedback from the users´ funded by “Indian National Center for Ocean Information Services-Ministry of Earth Sciences, Govt. of India”- INCOIS as a senior research fellow (SRF). Recently work has been completed as a post-doctoral fellow under Erasmus Mundus Action 2-Experts programme under the subject Marine Ecology and Environment in the University of Santiago de Compostela Spain, especially on the gametogenic cycle of Sea Anemones- Anemonia viridis by using classical staining’s and immune-cytochemical techniques (using antibodies against proliferating cell nuclear antigen by PCNA), to know whether the immature samples show proliferating cells in the gonads or not this work was performed under the guidance of Prof. Miguel Angel Rodriguez Diaz. Also work has been completed on experimental protocols related with the tissue fixation, sectioning and staining of tissues of marine invertebrates for optical and electron microscopy, in addition, with immune-cytochemical techniques, PCR and western blot. Currently the work is been in progress on the assessment of molluscan fauna in and around Bhandardara reservoir in Ahmednagar District Maharashtra, India.
Professional interests
Basically my research focuses on assessment of biodiversity and conservation; ecological characterizations and environmental aspects of the coasts; taxonomic identification and nomenclature of molluscan group; application of potential fishing zones and its contribution in capture fishery; ecological and economic contribution of marine fisheries, comparative study of aquaculture and modern fishing activities; conservation of marine ecosystems and services. Also to know the traditional fishing and its importance, underwater research, application of quantitative and qualitative methods and training in marine fisheries, policies in marine capture fisheries to understand linkages between ecological and socioeconomic components on the coast at multiple scales.
And also interested in the following objectives:

And also interested in the following objectives:
- To develop mandates strong action to conserve and manage fishery resources that contribute to the food supply, economy, and health of the human beings. To improve the health of marine ecosystems and to control on overfishing, rebuild overfished stocks, and conserve essential fish habitat through research and consultations that may adversely affect such habitat, which are among our primary stewardship responsibilities. Purpose to improve the scientific enterprises for to ensure the fishery production and improve the highest possible qualities through dissemination of scientific data.
- To develop the understanding of fisheries and socio-economic development especially in developing country like India.
- To improve the idea about coastal and marine ecosystem in changing world and to know the contribution of women’s in fisheries.
- To develop the idea of gametogenic cycle in sea anemones and commercial marine invertebrate groups for to improve the production of commercial species through the PCNA, PCR and western Blot, and histo-chemical and immuno-cytochemical staining techniques.
- To know the Effect of bioaccumulation of heavy metal at molecular and cellular level in fishes and molluscs, development of novel techniques for bioaccumulation of heavy metals speciation of trace metals in the Marine and estuarine molluscs and from the soil. Also interested in development of concrete database of marine fishes and molluscs from the coast of Maharashtra, India, for their conservation and sustainable utilization for socioeconomic development.
