Research interests
Researcher at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, University of Santiago de Compostela and a PhD student at Campus do Mar, International Campus of Excellence. Her research interests are in coastal and marine ecosystem services, small-scale fisheries and aquaculture, community development and poverty reduction, climate change, and ecosystem-based management for sustainable development.
Interested in marine ecology, she studied for a degree in Ocean Science at Vigo University and a MSc in Shellfish Biology, Fisheries and Culture at Bangor University. Through research and work experience she developed an interest in the integration of socio-ecological systems into marine resources management, which became her main line of research.
She is currently investigating the socioeconomic effects of different management strategies on marine ecosystem services, using a combination of quantitative and qualitive methods and a co-managed marine reserve as a case study. She is particularly interested in understanding the links between the natural marine environment, the benefit and services that it provides for society and promotion of a sustainable use of our coasts and oceans.
